I'VE FOUND SOME OF LIFE'S GREATEST GIFTS COME FROM OUR LOWEST POINTS. THIS LITTLE BUSINESS OF MINE IS JUST THAT.
Five years ago, if you had looked at my life, you would have thought everything was in place – the job, the relationship, the family, the smile. Underneath it all, I was battling doubts about who I was, questioning my place in the world and my value to it. I lacked opinions and a sense of self. I had a job that was impactful but kept me behind the scenes. I had a few good friends, but our schedules rarely lined up. Panic attacks and a desperate need for community only led to social anxiety, making real connections feel impossible. Something was missing.
In need of fresh air, I packed up my car and headed west to San Diego. With nothing to lose, I said ‘yes’ to new opportunities. I made incredible friends, reconnected with old ones, surfed, danced, took yoga classes on the beach, and watched nearly every sunset. While the process is far from over, I began learning what made me, me. I learned to embrace the things that brings me joy. If you're curious - early morning walks with my dog. trying new coffee shops, learning new things (right now, French), perfectly packing the trunk of a car for a trip, my national park pass, cooking a new recipe, and photographing the world around me.
Photography has always been something I've loved. In the past, I'd captured important moments for friends - engagements, maternity photos, rehearsal dinners, graduation parties. Fear of others' opinions kept me from pursuing it further. I hadn't ever received negative feedback, but here I was, creating "what if" scenarios in my head.
After spending two and a half years in California, I learned I'd soon be an aunt and decided to move closer to home.. To fund the move, I offered paid photography sessions to friends. The response was beyond what I could have imagined. I began shooting for friends, then for their friends, and eventually for friends of their friends. These sessions not only funded my move but also brought a true sense of fulfillment. To everyone I've worked with, THANK YOU. Your time, our conversations, the creative freedom you've allowed me, and your heartfelt gratitude have been incredibly meaningful to me. I feel like I've discovered where I can make the most impact.
So, here we are, you and me, as my photography journey continues to evolve into something truly special. Thank you for being here. Thank you for considering me to be a part of these treasured moments. I can't wait to capture more beautiful memories together.
